Keeping the flowers fresh at The Petit Trianon

 

When I visited Versailles in September 2015, the flower beds outside the Petit Trianon (below) caught my eye.

As you can see, rather than planting the plants straight into the  ground, the terracotta pots are anchored into the ground, allowing for easy replacement and ensuring that plants in flower are always on view.

One for the ideas bank.
