West Dean Garden (Part 2) (West Sussex): how to espalier – with flesh on the bones

At the beginning of 2015 we visited West Dean Gardens, where we admired the amazing shapes into which the fruit trees had been twisted.  See here.

In August, we returned to West Sussex to visit the same garden at the height of summer.

The sunken garden

Our visit coincided with the Chilli Festival, so most of the garden was taken over to stalls.  We, however, managed to find some of the quieter spots.

I hope that warmed you up on this cold December morning!

  1. Thank you for sharing your visits, a delight when the days are short and there is less insentive to garden.
