The gardens of Pompeii & Ercolano (Italy)

It’s probably because I’m a reincarnated resident of Pompeii that I dream of having a courtyard garden.  There is something wonderful about a house around the garden.  I think it’s why I like Syon House and Wilton House, which are both fashioned from former monastic sites, with their inner cloisters.

Oooh, and I’m definitely a fan of topiary too.  The garden below was my favourite in all of Pompeii and Ercolano.

  1. Thanks Robin. The pictures are totally mouth watering. I’m passing them on to members of the Chippendale Society with the suggestion of a group visit at some time in the not too distant future.

    1. I don’t think you will regret going back. Some of the deterioration since you were last there and some of the restoration that they have done will probably surprise you. However, I’m not sure you will find much Chippendale!
