RHS Wisley in March (Surrey)

This is the Royal Horticultural Society’s flagship garden.  I hadn’t been before but a couple of weeks ago my bicycle, my RHS membership card and I took a train from London Waterloo to West Byfleet and then I cycled the 3 miles to Wisley – a lovely ride along a country lane where a couple of deer walked out into the road in front of me to take a good look at this strange thing on 2 wheels.

The annual Spring Orchid Display was in full bloom in the glasshouse.

Spring was just popping out.

There is a vast orchard but as we have had such a cold start to the year, there wasn’t a single blossom.  Everything seems to be 2-3 weeks behind.

I plan on visiting RHS Wisley at least a couple more times this year, so will try and take the same pictures to compare the seasons.

When visited: 7 March 2013
