Royal Naval Hospital (Greenwich)

My memories from London Open House 2012 – we visited The Queen’s House & the Royal Naval Hospital, built by Queen Mary at the end of the 17th century on the site of an earlier royal palace to provide lodgings for injured seamen.

It’s always open and free to visit.

Into the chapel, designed by Sir Christopher Wren & redecorated by James ‘Athenian’ Stuart.  Check out the Greek influence.

  1. I went on an organised tour of Queen’s House and the Royal Naval Hospital, plus the extensive park land. It was gorgeous. But your photographs, at least of the architecture, are amazing and mine are certainly not.

Getting those enormous murals right would probably be impossible for any photographer. It must have been difficult enough artists to paint.
